Fiber Optic Sensing Association Announces Mid-Year Meetings in Conjunction with University of Cambridge
Smart Infrastructure Conference

WASHINGTON DC - May 10, 2019 - The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the world’s premier trade association dedicated to fiber optic sensing, announced the scheduling of its mid-year meeting at Churchill College, Cambridge, UK, July 10-11, 2019, following its participation in the International Conference on Smart Infrastructure and Construction (ICSIC).

“FOSA is pleased to participate in this year’s International Conference on Smart Infrastructure and Construction and then to continue the discussions at our own mid-year meeting in Cambridge,” said FOSA Chairman JJ Williams. “We believe fiber optic sensing will play a critical role in smart infrastructure construction around the world over the next few years, and our conversations with the ICSIC will help foster a vision for the future.”

FOSA Executive Director Mark Uncapher said that the meetings are timely given ongoing infrastructure investments being made globally.

"More effectively leveraging technology into infrastructure investments will enhance lives for decades to come. The smart infrastructure benefits extend to time saved, money saved and even lives saved," Uncapher said.

FOSA recently joined 10 other U.S. high-tech trade associations in a letter pushing the U.S. Congress to include smart technologies in infrastructure spending packages.

“The ICSIC and FOSA meetings will bring together technology leaders from the academic and industrial worlds, providing opportunities to discuss key issues and collaborate on the advancement of this important technology,” Williams said. “We think the meetings in Cambridge will be very important, and we look forward to seeing FOSA members and ICSIC participants there.”
