WASHINGTON DC, October 2, 2019 - The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the nation’s premier trade association dedicated to fiber optic sensing, today praised the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) for its October 1 issuance of three significant pipeline safety regulations. The rules address congressional mandates dating back to 2011.
“PHMSA deserves praise for taking significant steps toward enhancing the safety of pipelines, including extending leak detection requirements. The new regulations strengthen gas transmission and hazardous liquid pipeline safety by raising the bar on federal pipeline safety standards. Industry also benefits from improved regulatory certainty,” said JJ Williams, FOSA Chairman.
