FOSA Praises Confirmation of Pete Buttigieg as 
Secretary of Transportation  

WASHINGTON, DC – February 2, 2021 – The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the nation’s premier trade association dedicated to fiber optic sensing, issued the following statement after the United States Senate voted to confirm Pete Buttigieg as the 19th Secretary of Transportation.

“FOSA extends congratulations and best wishes to Pete Buttigieg on his confirmation as Secretary of Transportation,” said FOSA Chairman Kent Wardley. “We are ready to work with Secretary Buttigieg on an array of transportation issues, including supporting broadband deployment through the advancement of federal ‘Dig Once’ policies and investing in smart infrastructure.”

“We congratulate Secretary Buttigieg on his confirmation and look forward to working with him and his team,” said FOSA Executive Director Mark Uncapher. “We are also excited by the prospect of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration’s (PHMSA) new Research, Development, and Testing facility at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) speeding-up the adoption of the latest pipeline safety technologies.”
