Fiber Optic Sensing Association Presents 2022 Champion of Innovation Award to Representative Chuck Fleischmann

WASHINGTON DC – December 8, 2022 – The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA) announced the winner of its annual Champion of Innovation Award. FOSA selected Representative Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) based on his leadership in the 117th Congress toward securing our borders and enhancing the safety and security of U.S. critical infrastructure with advanced technology.

The association presented the award during the association’s annual member meeting in Washington.

“Representative Fleischmann appreciates the positive contributions that technology makes to society and in protecting our nation’s borders and critical infrastructure,” said FOSA Chairman Dave Cunningham of Network Integrity Systems. “He understands, in particular, how using advanced technology can improve border security.”

As the Ranking Republican of the House Appropriations Committee’s Homeland Security Subcommittee and a member of the Border Security Technology Caucus, Rep. Fleischmann has led the charge to provide funding for the government agencies that secure our homeland including the United States Coast Guard, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

“This award is a token of our appreciation. We thank Representative Fleischmann for his outstanding leadership,” added FOSA Public Policy Chairman JJ Williams of Luna Innovations.
