Fotech will use fiber cables to detect vehicle vibrations and analyze traffic volumes and dynamically change signal junctions to relieve congestion
Staffordshire County Council is working with Fotech to improve air quality through the use of fiber optic sensing technology. Fiber optic sensing technology is a unique way of detecting vehicle movements using standard telecom fibers that run next to the roadside.
FOSA Executive Director Mark Uncapher wrote Secretary Buttigieg: "FOSA recommends that the Transportation Department track, in a publicly available format, the availability and location of 'fiber-enabled' interstate roadways.
Fotech Solutions’ Stuart Large presented the webinar “The million sensors you didn’t know you already have, the unexpected value of a city’s fiber revealed” to SmartCities World
Chris Shannon, CEO, Fotech Solutions, said, “The findings of this research not only demonstrate that the appetite for smart city progress remains strong, they also highlight the need for more practical approaches to creating smart city systems
