||Becoming truly smart – how can new cities add value to fiber with sensing?
The webinar will examine the unique opportunity for architects, designers and planners offered by fiber installation in smart city developments. When designing smart cities, all of those involved in designing and creating them must think about how to install infrastructure to optimize its value – this includes new concepts for planning fiber installation.
Fotech will put forward a proposal involving subtle changes in fiber placement and cable- and duct-building. This can have a powerful impact on the value of sensory data obtained from fiber, offering insights into the surrounding environment. There are many applications for optimally installed fiber running Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, including monitoring and informing all forms of transport, protecting infrastructure, maintaining a secure and safe environment and improving lives. Presented by Stuart Large, Product Line Director and Business Development, Fotech Group
Stuart Large has spent more than 20 years in leading-edge sensor technology. Originally from the energy sector, Stuart leads Fotech’s vision for smart cities and takes a hands-on approach in driving product innovation and development of the use cases for distributed fiber optic sensing technology in cities.
